Leron Leonardus is a Dutch fashion designer and maker based in Arnhem. His work often begins with something personal: a memory, a person, a feeling or something left behind.
For Leron, a garment does not end when it leaves his hands. His own story may be where it begins, but the person who wears it becomes part of that story too. Their body, personality and experiences give the piece a meaning he could never fully decide beforehand.
Leron is drawn to history, but does not want to leave it untouched. He thinks of the porcelain kept safely in a cabinet for years. At some point, you have to take it out and eat from it.
Women and the way they carry themselves have fascinated him from an early age. One of his earliest references is his grandmother. As a child, he noticed the way she could walk into a room and simply be there. Her clothes were part of that presence, but so were her posture and movement. That memory still influences the way Leron designs. He wants clothing to give the wearer the freedom to take up space in their own way.
Before studying fashion design, Leron trained in specialist tailoring. He works closely with the body, using precise construction, traditional techniques and handwork.
In 2025, Leron graduated with honours from HKU's Bachelor of Fashion Design programme. His graduate collection, Where History Turned to Ashes, a New Generation Emerged, grew from grief, family history and questions around femininity. In one garment, his grandmother's ashes were combined with his own blood. The collection received the Dutch Lion Emerging Design Talent Award 2025.
From his atelier in Arnhem, Leron works across collections, custom garments, editorials and red carpet pieces.
